Forgiveness Affidavit

Forgiveness Affidavit:

Prayer of Forgiveness

Dear Father God,

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I bring to You the gift of my pain and I lay it before Your throne.  I confess that my feelings and attitudes toward those who hurt me and have been sinful, but I have not known what to do about them.

In the name of Jesus, and as an act of my free will, I purpose and choose the forgive (Person’s Name) from my heart for (what they did.)

In the name of Jesus, I break and cancel Satan’s power over me in this memory, and the resulting pain.  I hate the devil and I renounce all of his evil works in my life.

In the name of Jesus, I command all the tormentors that have been assigned to me because of my unforgiveness to leave me now.

Holy Spirit, I invite You to come into my heart and heal me of this pain and this deep hurt.  Holy Spirit, please reveal Your truth to me in this situation. (Pause quietly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart.  Listen carefully to what He has to say.)

Thank you, Father God, that because of the work that my Lord Jesus did on the cross my forgiveness, healing and freedom from the past hurts are possible.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

Record of Wrongs

 I.    Make a list of all those you need to forgive.  Write down each person’s name and detail everything you think they did to you.  This is the “Record of Wrongs” you have been holding against them.  Deal with each person one at a time.  Pray the prayer of Forgiveness over each one until you are finished.

II.                 Make a list of everything for which you need to forgive yourself.  Take this list to the Lord in prayer, using the same Prayer of Forgiveness used before.  Put your name in the space for the person’s name and state what you are forgiving yourself.

Ask the Holy Spirit to speak His truth to you in each situation.  God will speak in your heart.  His word is the final word on the subject and He promises forgiveness (1John 1:9).

God is faithful to do His part and forgive, if we do our part.  The Holy Spirit will complete the work of forgiveness in your heart.  The sin of unforgiveness will no longer stand between you and God, or between you and others.  God will declare you righteous and shameless.  You will regain your “right standing” as an heir of God with all the blessing it carries.  The peace that passes all understanding will fill you  (John 14:27).

Satan and His tormentors have no legal right to you when you confess your sins and forgive others and yourself. (Eph.4:27)  You are free!  John 8:36 says, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”  Praise God!
